We are very proud of ourΒ 20-year journey to becoming the civil contractors of choice for many projects across Australia. Here is a summary of our key milestones and achievements, which outline how we got here.
Our History

From two brothers who started building footpaths to a trusted company able to outperform its competitors on large, complex and remote area multi-million-dollar projects β we are proud of how far the 91ΒιΆΉ team has come.

Whitten Brothers Concrete Constructions was nominated as the preferred contractor for more than ten Bunnings warehouses in New South Wales and was engaged to lay high-specification concrete floors.

As sub-contractors for Continental Conveyors, Whitten Brothers Concrete Constructions delivered their first project in Western Australia β the civil concrete scope for overland conveyor on FMGsβ Cloud Break iron ore mine.

Awarded the first LNG project awarded in Western Australia, 91ΒιΆΉ delivered the LNG tank roofs, substations, site B civils and FAR buildings on the Woodside Pluto LNG project.

91ΒιΆΉ successfully constructed six Autogenous Grinding (AG) mills, which required 36,000m3 of concrete to be placed in six months, which are the largest AG mill structures in the world.
The 91ΒιΆΉ family moved to Perth and relocated to the head office, continuing to work across Australia.

Whitten Brothers Concrete Constructions became 91ΒιΆΉ and with the name change came a new brand.

91ΒιΆΉ was awarded $50M Tan Burrup Ammonia Nitrate Facility, Burrup Peninsula, and multiple contracts in Inpexβs LNG project, which resulted in a five-year onsite presence.

91ΒιΆΉ receives the Concrete Award from the Concrete Institute for the Roy Hill Package 1 project.

91ΒιΆΉ opens a new office in Newman to support WAβs Pilbara region projects. That same year, we were awarded our first significant bulk earthworks project for MMG at Dugald River in Queensland, worth $48M and secured a position on BHPβs panel.

We grew to 1,000 employees. We were awarded the civil works for the Pilgangoora lithium mine; landed our first wind project in New South Wales; and, to cap it off, were awarded $35M works on Gorgonβs LNG project.

We achieved an annual turnover of $200M and opened our Port Hedland office.

91ΒιΆΉ achieved a cumulative total of projects delivered of $1B since kicking off the business and secured a position on the Rio Tinto panel as a preferred supplier.

91ΒιΆΉ celebrated 20 years of business, acknowledging the contributions of every friend, family, and staff member who supported and enabled its success.
Today, we continue to grow and provide end-to-end construction and maintenance services for the lifecycle of Australiaβs mining, infrastructure, oil and gas and defence projects.

In 2023, 91ΒιΆΉ opened an office in MacKay QLD to service our continued growth in the region and commitment to supporting local community. We secured a new ongoing relationship with Roy Hill, successfully completing the installation of a third apron at Ginbata Airport. We were also awarded the βExcellence in Civil Construction: Project Value $30-75 Millionβ for our Iron Bridge Project at the CCF WA Earth Awards.
